Columbia Streams Art public art program extends deadline for submissions of artist micro-grants

February 11, 2025

Twenty Local artists will be awarded micro-grants in amounts ranging from $500 to $1,500

The City of Columbia’s Columbia Streams Art program is extending the deadline for submissions to the micro-grants to 20 local artists. The original deadline was Friday, February 10, but has now been extended for at least another two months with no definitive closing date.

Twenty micro-grants will be awarded with funds ranging from $500 to $1,500. The final product of the art project submitted must fall into one of these three categories:

  • Amplifying the rich history and story of Columbia, South Carolina.
  • Improve and expand public knowledge of our rivers, the Saluda, the Broad, and the Congaree, and encourage public recreation activity at river access sites.
  • Furthering sustainability with a focus on topics like climate change, heat reduction, beautification, and conservation.

All artwork created by the awarded micro-grant funding will remain the property of the artist(s). The City of Columbia plans a public exhibition of the artwork created by the micro-grant funding, and following the exhibition period will return the artwork to the artists. The micro-grants are open to artists who live in or work in the Columbia, SC area, with an emphasis on artists or an art team who have publically exhibited in the Columbia or larger South Carolina area.
