Advance Tickets to Rosewood Crawfish Festival Still Available

COLUMBIA, SC – May 1, 2014 – The Greater Rosewood Merchants Association (GRMA) will host the 10th annual Rosewood Crawfish Festival this Saturday, May 3, 2014 on Rosewood Drive.

“The weather outlook for Saturday is a perfect 80 degrees and sunny,” said Dave Britt, GRMA Executive Director. “Those 10,000 lbs of crawfish are going to go fast, so be sure to get there early to get your fill.”

If crawfish are not your thing, the festival offers a variety food and activities throughout the day. The morning will start off with the 5k Crawdaddy Dash at 9 a.m.; gates open at 11 a.m. and music will begin on three stages, featuring more than 15 bands. More than a dozen food vendors will be on hand selling everything from hamburgers to fair food and signature southern treats.

The headline band this year is Everclear who formed in 1992 and had multiple top 10 hits in the late ‘90s and early 2000s. Hit songs include “Father of Mine” and “Wonderful”. The rest of the lineup is comprised of local and regional bands including John Wesley Satterfield, Lefty at the Washout, Dr. Roundhouse and Tinbenders.

“It is going to be a great day of music, food and fun,” said Moe Baddourah, City of Columbia Councilman and Rosewood Drive business owner. “We hope everyone comes out to enjoy what Rosewood has to offer.”

The Li’l Crawdaddy Carnival located in front of Publix will feature a full city block of rides, games and entertainment for families to enjoy. There is also an Artist Village that will feature work from local and regional artists.

Carolina Crossfit will give folks an opportunity to test their metal,” said Britt. “They will be at the Capital Karate parking lot and have demonstrations, tests and general information about the Crossfit workout craze.”

Youth 16 and under are admitted with an adult. Children 12 and under are admitted free with a guardian. The price of tickets does NOT include crawfish. There is FREE parking and shuttle service at the S.C. State Fair Grounds.
