New owners begin operations September 8th – Harold Miller to Remain in Management Role

SUMTER, SC – Harold Miller, President of Miller Communications, has sold his 12 radio stations, 7 translators and 3 TV cps in Florence, Sumter and Orangeburg, South Carolina markets to Community Broadcasters LLC, headquartered in New York.

“I’ve spent the last 15 years building Miller Communications and our reach within the South Carolina radio market. It’s been extremely fulfilling to create this radio group in the state. I’m very excited to align myself with the growing broadcasting entity of Community Broadcasters where I’ll remain in a management capacity,” says Harold Miller, founder of Miller Communications.

Community Broadcasters LLC is co-owned and operated by Jim Leven and Bruce Mittman in partnership with Northwood Ventures in Long Island, NY. Mittman also owns and operates Mittcom, a full-service advertising agency headquartered in Boston, MA.

“We’re thrilled to expand our radio company into 3 fast-growing markets throughout South Carolina. The Miller Communications’ purchase doubles the size of Community Broadcasters and furthers our strategic vision to grow a small-market radio group throughout the U.S.” says Jim Leven.

“We established Community Broadcasters in 2006 with the vision to become the voice for the community, focusing on local news, sports and area events, not just syndicated programming. Both Jim and I feel strongly about giving back to the communities we serve through public service and charitable contributions”, says Bruce Mittman. “Our local stations are considered great places to work and we intend to extend that corporate culture to our new stations in South Carolina,” adds Leven.

Community Broadcasters will begin operating Miller Communications on September 8th, 2015. They have filed all transfer applications to the FCC and will continue operations with Miller Communications under a TBA (time brokerage agreement) until the FCC approves the final transaction.

Community Broadcasters LLC currently owns and operates 16 signals in Elmira/Corning, Olean, Ogdensburg and Watertown, NY. The Miller Communications’ purchase brings the group’s holdings to 38 signals throughout New York and South Carolina.
