Community Engagement Grants Announced by Central Carolina Community Foundation

November 17, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC –  In order to promote a more vibrant, compassionate and connected community, Central Carolina Community Foundation , the Midlands expert on philanthropy, is offering Community Engagement grants to nonprofit organizations that are providing innovative ideas in three focus areas: Arts & Culture, the Environment and Community. These areas relate directly to our quality of life and strengthen our region.

“When we are engaged, when we are emotionally connected to our community, we are inspired to give.” says JoAnn Turnquist, President and CEO of the Foundation, “And, when we give, we inspire others to give too and our community thrives. As our community thrives, our population of caring, connected people grows and, more people give – a perfect circle.”

Through Community Engagement grants, Central Carolina Community Foundation hopes to continue building a strong, engaged, and inclusive community, where people collaborate to build programs that provide personal, organizational, and environmental prosperity. A compassionate community leads to an abundance of opportunities to help everyone reach their true potential and is the home to many parks, museums, and public places that are accessible and open to all members of the community.

Central Carolina Community Foundation will award grants up to $50,000. In order to inspire innovation, the grants will serve as challenge grants; secured funding will not be required until a grant is awarded. Any 501 (c)(3) public entity that is located in one of the 11 counties the Community Foundation serves and, is working in one of the three focus areas – Arts & Culture, the Environment and Community, is eligible to participate. Eligible organizations are invited to submit a letter of intent by January 9, 2015. Guidelines for the letters of intent can be found at www.yourfoundation.org.
