Community Foundation Announces New President & CEO

COLUMBIA, SC – March 11, 2009 – Central Carolina Community Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of JoAnn M. Turnquist as President & CEO.  In this role, JoAnn will lead the Foundation in implementing the long-range strategic plan and assisting donors in achieving their philanthropic goals.  She will work with Foundation’s board of trustees and staff to set the vision for new initiatives and expand the role of the Foundation within the community.

Central Carolina Community Foundation is celebrating our 25th year of fostering philanthropy and we are very excited about bringing JoAnn on board at such an important time in our history, said Board Chair, David Sojourner.  With our new strategic areas of focus and several new initiatives upon which the Foundation is working, we feel confident that under JoAnn’s leadership the Community Foundation will continue to increase the impact we can make on our community.

Ms. Turnquist has 25 years of experience characterized by successfully leading corporate teams and independent associations in highly competitive environments.  In her most recent role as Chief of Staff for the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, Ms. Turnquist served as the primary liaison between the Dean and the school’s external constituents.  Prior to joining USC, JoAnn served as Vice President of Sales for the Clorox Company’s Commercial Division, Director of Corporate Accounts for JohnsonDiversey and Regional Sales Manager for Rubbermaid Commercial Products.

Ms. Turnquist’s volunteer experience includes a combined 12 years with Greater Columbia Literacy Council and Literacy Chicago, as well as service on the boards of the South Carolina Mansion Foundation and Gold Coast Neighbors Association.
