Community Foundation of the Lowcountry awards more than $304,000 in impact grants to Lowcountry nonprofits and organizations
June 4, 2026In its second Impact Grant cycle of fiscal year 2026, Community Foundation of the Lowcountry awarded $304,500 to seven local nonprofits and organizations.
These competitive grants, distributed twice per fiscal year, are available to nonprofits and organizations serving people who live or work in southern Beaufort County. In this cycle, Impact Grants were awarded for projects and programs focused on human services, the arts, special needs inclusion, education, medical services, youth enrichment, and food insecurity.
The recipients of the spring 2026 Community Foundation of the Lowcountry Impact Grants are:
- Boys and Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry – $75,000 to launch the Coastal Connections Mobile Club, a “club on wheels” that will deliver academic support, STEM programming, and youth development services directly into underserved neighborhoods.
- Heroes on Horseback – $30,000 for the purchase of a new utility vehicle to improve operations for its equine-assisted therapy program serving individuals with disabilities, special needs children, and veterans with PTSD.
- Main Stage Community Theatre – $35,000 to launch C.R.E.A.T.E. (Community Resources for Education in Acting, Theatre & Expression), a new outreach initiative delivering no cost theater education directly into schools, libraries, and community spaces for youth ages 6-18.
- St. Andrew By-The-Sea UMC Soup Kitchen – $14,500 for a special project titled “Happy 250th Birthday America” which will provide food gift cards, bikes with cargo carriers, grocery carts, clothing, and school supplies to families through the soup kitchen.

T.R.U. Global Inc. – $25,000 for the TRU Lowcountry Legacy program, which supports a series of youth enrichment programs, athletic engagement, clinics, and events.

United Way of the Lowcountry – $100,000 to launch and operate a Mobile HELPLINE, which is designed to bring coordinated access to services such as benefit screening, referrals, and case support directly into communities in which residents face barriers.

University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) – $25,000 to enhance its nursing simulation lab by purchasing bladder scanners and nurse call systems. These tools will allow nursing students to practice clinical skills in a simulated environment that reflects real-world healthcare settings.
For fiscal year 2026 (July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026), Community Foundation of the Lowcountry awarded 15 Impact Grants totaling $811,000.
