Community Prayer Service Planned in Clinton for National Day of Prayer, May 1

April 28, 2025

Churches and community members in Clinton and throughout Laurens County are invited to gather for a National Day of Prayer Community Prayer Service on Thursday, May 1, 2025, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The service will take place at Clinton First Pentecostal Holiness Church, located at 403 Academy Street in Clinton.

All area churches and members of the public are welcome to attend this special time of united prayer for the nation, local communities, leaders, first responders, families, and schools.

This year’s National Day of Prayer theme is “Lift Up the Word – Light Up the World,” inspired by 2 Samuel 22:29-31 (NASB):
“For You are my lamp, Lord; And the Lord illuminates my darkness. For by You I can run at a troop of warriors; By my God I can leap over a wall. As for God, His way is blameless, The word of the Lord is refined; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.”

The theme encourages believers to stand boldly in faith, lifting up the truth of Scripture and shining God’s light into a world in need of hope and direction.

The National Day of Prayer was established by Congress in 1952 and designated as the first Thursday of May by President Ronald Reagan in 1988. It serves as a nationwide call for Americans of all faiths to pause and pray for the well-being of the country and its leaders.

Organizers of the Clinton service hope the gathering will strengthen a sense of unity among local churches and residents, offering a moment to come together in shared faith and purpose.
