Community Update: Funeral Arrangements and Support for Clinton Fire Department

As the Clinton community continues to grapple with the tragic loss of firefighter Michael “Mike Mike” Vinson, plans for his funeral service have been solidified, offering an opportunity for the community to come together in mourning and remembrance.

Michael Vinson, a dedicated member of both the Laurens County and Clinton City Fire Departments, lost his life in the line of duty near Highway 72 on Sunday. The news sent shockwaves throughout the city and beyond, as residents mourned the loss of a true hero.

In the wake of this devastating event, the South Carolina State Fire Mobilization has stepped in to provide vital support for the Clinton Fire Department. Various fire departments from across the state have been mobilized to assist with service calls within the Clinton Fire Department fire district until Saturday morning. This collaborative effort underscores the solidarity and unwavering support within the firefighting community during times of tragedy.

Meanwhile, preparations for Michael Vinson’s funeral service are underway. The service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Union Baptist Church in  Laurens. Reverends Kenny Moore and Bryant Sims will officiate the service. Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Laurens (499 Chestnut Ridge Road) will serve as the overflow location for the service and doors will open at 1:00. They will live stream the service.

Prior to the funeral, friends, family, and community members are invited to pay their respects at The Kennedy Mortuary from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
