Conestee Nature Preserve Dedicates New Memorial Bench Overlooking West Bay
June 8, 2026Visitors to Conestee Nature Preserve have a new scenic spot to pause and reflect following the recent dedication of a memorial bench along one of the sanctuary’s popular waterways. The newly installed installation honors the life and legacy of Brittany Langley Lawson.
The memorial was established at a scenic overlook along West Bay, a location remembered by family and friends as one of her favorite places to spend time immersed in nature.
A Space for Community and Reflection
The dedication ceremony brought together a large gathering of family members, area residents, and preserve supporters. Attendees gathered at the overlook trail to cut the ribbon on the dedicated seating area, which is framed by a natural decorative archway.
Organizers noted that the space was intentionally designed to serve as a lasting reminder of the joy the outdoors can bring. The peaceful overlook invites hikers, birdwatchers, and families to take a quiet moment to disconnect from the busy pace of daily life and connect with the surrounding wetlands.
The project was made possible through a collaboration with Brittany’s Benches, an organization dedicated to creating meaningful community tribute spaces in natural environments.
