June 16, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – House Assistant Democratic Leader and South Carolina Congressman James E. Clyburn announced today that Salters, S.C. native, Margie Scott, was selected to serve as a Library of Congress Junior Fellow this summer.

Chosen as one of 48 college students, Margie will be exposed to a broad spectrum of library work: preservation, reference, access standards, information management and the U.S. copyright system.  This is the Library’s tenth year to offer this highly competitive program, which this year received more than 900 applications from all over the country.

“I would like to congratulate Margie on her selection to the Junior Fellow program and wish her the best during her 10-week internship in Washington, D.C.,” Congressman Jim Clyburn said.  “This paid internship program is highly selective and we are proud to call her a South Carolinian.  Having students with the amount of maturity and skill that Margie exudes is rare.  It is without question that she will have personal and professional success in the future.
