Congressman Joe Wilson appointed to NDAA Conference Committee

September 18, 2019

Today, Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) released the following statement on his appointment to the conference committee for this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):

“I am extraordinarily grateful to serve another year on the National Defense Authorization Act Conference Committee for fiscal year 2020. As a veteran of the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard and the father of four sons who have served in the military overseas, I am wholly committed to supporting our servicemembers, veterans, and military families. Last year’s committee efforts were successful, and I will continue to promote peace through strength and work to champion repeal of the ‘Widow’s Tax.’ I am committed to working with the entire conference committee to advance this bipartisan legislation.”

Members of the NDAA Conference Committee, appointed by the Speaker of the House and approved by the full House, work together to resolve differences between House and Senate-passed versions of the bill that funds the Department of Defense and the Armed Forces of the United States. Congressman Wilson is a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee and serves on the Strategic Forces and Readiness subcommittees.
