Consumer alert: Gatorade issues nationwide recall on over 122,000 cases over undeclared food dye

Consumers and families stocking sports coolers and pantries across South Carolina are being advised to check their labels following a voluntary nationwide recall on select 28-ounce bottles of Gatorade.
The recall impacts 122,021 cases distributed across 37 states—including South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia—due to undeclared Yellow No. 5 and Yellow No. 6 food colorings that were omitted from ingredient packaging labels. While harmless to many, undeclared dyes pose potential allergy or sensitivity risks for certain individuals. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified the action as a Class II recall under Recall # H-0009-2027.
The issue specifically involves 28-ounce bottles across four popular flavors:
