Contec Partners with United Way of the Piedmont for COVID-19 response

May 4, 2020

United Way of the Piedmont announced that it has received $25,000 from Contec Inc. into the United for All Fund supporting local COVID-19 relief. The donation will serve as a dollar for dollar match to donations made by individuals, allowing United Way to help more families in need.

The United for All Fund is a disaster relief fund that has been activated in response to COVID-19. The fund directly supports individuals and families in Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union counties through United Way’s Community Resource Coordinator program. Funds can also be used to support other community partners who are significantly involved in relief efforts. Funds are primarily used to support families who have lost wages due to COVID-19 with expenses like rent/mortgage, utilities, and food.

Contec’s CEO, Jack McBride shared, “We are proud to extend our partnership with United Way of the Piedmont. This crisis has magnified how much we all need one another and the fact that the only way through this pandemic is together.”

Contec Inc.’s donation will allow donors to double their impact. For every dollar that an individual donor gives, Contec will match that gift, up to $25,000. In addition, to Contec’s contribution, Mary Black Foundation has also provided a matching grant, bring the total funds available for match up to $50,000. Therefore, United Way of the Piedmont is encouraging those who can, to donate to the United for All Fund in order to double their donation. Paige Stephenson, United Way of the Piedmont President & CEO, says “We are so grateful for companies like Contec who are stepping up and challenging others to do the same with these matching dollars. At United Way we are all about doing the most good for the most people, and with these matching funds we will be able to help more families recover from the effects of COVID-19.”
