Councilman Hill Enters Special Election

January 5, 2015

FLORENCE, SC – Republican Councilman Robby Hill, small businessman and Florence City Councilman, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination in the State House 63 special election to be held February 24th. Friends, family, and community leaders joined together in front of the newly renovated Hotel Florence, one of several downtown projects Councilman Hill is proud to be a part of, to witness his entry into the race.

A Special Election for State House District 63 was called for after Representative Kris Crawford resigned, shortly after being re-elected, citing the need to spend more time with his family. Many have described the election a more of sprint than a marathon with Election Day only a few weeks away.

Hill says he sees this election is an opportunity for the voters of Florence to send a message to Columbia saying, “If you are tired of unethical, special interest politics and want common sense, conservative solutions like I do then I ask you to join with me in sending Columbia a message.”

“We have incredible opportunities to make common-sense reforms in government, but we also face enormous challenges. So much of our government remains broken. It still over regulates and taxes while failing to provide needed infrastructure improvements. We read in the headlines about corrupt politicians. We have an education system that our own Supreme Court has ruled is failing to properly prepare our students for life. Now is the time to push forward and renew our commitment to education. Now is the time continue our efforts to revitalize our economy. Now is the time to restore faith in our representatives,” Hill stressed to an excited crowd.

Hill says he is running because he wants to give back to Florence which had given him so much. “I was a senior at West Florence High when I started my business here in Florence. Now we employ 20 people and provide technology services throughout this city and state. These successes wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my loving parents and so many other in this community,” Hill said.

When asked how he planned to win in February Hill responded, “I see an Election as a job interview with the voters. I plan to share my vision and listen to concerns of as many voters as I can, and I hope when the interview is done they decide to hire me to work for them.”

Hill, 32, founded HillSouth in 2001 and join Florence City Council (At-Large) in 2012. He has served the community in many roles including Chair of the Pee Dee Workforce Investment Board, Chairman of the North Dargan Innovation Center, Co-Founder of Young Professionals of Florence, established CodeFlo a free service to learning computer programming skills in Florence, and an active member of Florence Rotary.
