County of Lexington proposing expansion of the Neighborhood Appearance District to four additional Council Districts

An ordinance to add four additional Council Districts to the Neighborhood Appearance District (N.A.D.)will be discussed at an open Public Hearing during the Sept. 27, 2016 Lexington County Council meeting.

The districts that are proposed to be added to the N.A.D. include District 4 (Springdale, parts of Lexington and Oak Grove), District 5 (Red Bank and South Congaree), District 8 (West Columbia, parts of Lexington and Oak Grove) and a portion of District 9 (Pine Ridge area).

The purpose of the N.A.D. was to enhance the character, appearance and image of Lexington County through appropriate maintenance of property and structures to help protect property values and the safety of citizens. The regulations apply to pool maintenance, unkempt or overgrown yards, exterior storage and maintenance of residential structures.

The N.A.D. was first implemented in Council Districts 6 (Chapin, parts of Irmo and Lexington) and 7 (Seven Oaks and part of Irmo). From Sept. 23, 2015 to Sept. 13, 2016, the following data was collected:
