Countybank Foundation completes $100,000 donation to Greenwood Area Habitat
November 20, 2021The Countybank Foundation, established in 1971 representing Countybank and Greenwood Capital, recently donated $20,000 to Greenwood Area Habitat for Humanity. This donation completes a five-year plan to donate a total of $100,000.
David Tompkins, Greenwood Market Executive for Countybank, and Wells Dunlap, Commercial Relationship Manager for Countybank, recently presented a check on behalf of the foundation to Stephen Baggett, Jr., Executive Director for Greenwood Area Habitat.
In 2020, prior to the onset of the pandemic, the team joined Greenwood Area Habitat at the site of a home build that Countybank and Greenwood Capital sponsored. “Greenwood Area Habitat is making great strides in our community,” said Dunlap, who also serves on the Board of Directors for Greenwood Area Habitat. “Local home builds, coupled with the Habitat for Humanity ReStore building, continue to make a positive impact.”
The annual Countybank Foundation donation, initiated five years ago, has supported local home builds and the Greenwood Area Habitat’s Uptown Greenwood ReStore. Now that the ReStore is firmly established, funds go directly to local home builds. “Countybank and Greenwood Capital have continued to support us when we needed it most during the pandemic,” said Baggett. “Through their support we are able to continue building more homes for those in need.”
Next spring, Countybank and Greenwood Capital will sponsor a planned home build. “The Countybank Foundation is honored to provide continued support that provides homes for those in need and in turn have a positive impact on our local community,” said David Tompkins, Greenwood Market Executive of Countybank.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps families build their own homes alongside volunteers and then pay an affordable mortgage. Its goal is to create opportunities for all people to live in decent and durable shelter.
