Countybank Foundation donates $1,500 to the Humane Society of Greenwood

Countybank and Greenwood Capital recently donated $1,500 to the Humane Society of Greenwood (HSOG). The donation will go toward the HSOG’s Pet Foster Program.

The program enables the HSOG to care for all animals received, address their unique needs, and serve the community. “More than 50% of animals brought to the shelter are sick, injured, young/orphaned, or in need of special attention,” said Connie Mawyer, Executive Director for the HSOG. “Orphaned animals require around the clock care, and this need cannot be met at the shelter level but can in a foster home.”

Last year, foster volunteers cared for 155 cats and 147 dogs. “Countybank is pleased to be able to support the HSOG’s Pet Foster Program in response to the surge in the number of animals coming into the HSOG facility,” said David Tompkins, Greenwood Market Executive for Countybank. “Foster programs like this allow the HSOG the ability to operate within its capacity of care.”

The HSOG is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit animal welfare agency comprised of staff and volunteers that is supported by donations and funding from Greenwood County to manage the Greenwood County Animal Shelter. HSOG staff promote adoptions of shelter animals at the Adoption Center and at off-site adoption events, as well as work strategically with out-of-area rescue groups who adopt animals from the Shelter and re-home in areas outside Greenwood. The HSOG offers low-cost spay/neuter services to the greater Greenwood, SC area.
