Countybank Foundation donates $500 to Salvation Army

September 19, 2023

The Countybank Foundation, established in 1971 representing Countybank and Greenwood Capital, recently donated $500 to The Salvation Army of Greenwood. This donation represents a longstanding relationship between the organizations, including both donations and volunteering.

The recent donation will go toward helping replenish the organization’s food pantry. Purchased food items will include meat and a variety of vegetables, which will go toward helping 30 people in the local community. “Our partnership with Countybank and Greenwood Capital are invaluable,” said Major Alan Gonzalez, Corps Commander of the Greenwood Salvation Army. “It is great to have a working relationship with such strong community financial institutions.”

Countybank and Greenwood have a long history of supporting the Salvation Army, volunteering each holiday season as bell ringers. “We are honored to give back to this worthwhile organization through both donations and volunteer efforts,” said David Tompkins, Greenwood Market Executive. “They do so much to help those in need, particularly during the holidays.”

The Salvation Army provides community support in a number of ways, including its food pantry, rent and utilities emergency assistance, Christmas assistance, disaster relief, and worship. The Salvation Army of Greenwood serves Greenwood, Laurens, Saluda, McCormick, and Abbeville Counties and has helped 2,227 people this year as of the end of August.

“The Greenwood Salvation Army has a history of quantifiable results,” said Walter Todd, President and CIO for Greenwood Capital. “We are pleased to be a part of their work to reduce food scarcity in our community.”
