Countybank and Greenwood Capital recently presented a check for $7,500 to Community Initiatives, Inc. The donation was given on behalf of the Countybank Foundation, which was established in 1971 and represents Countybank and Greenwood Capital.

This donation will go toward the development of Community Initiative’s new Toddler Learning Center, designed to prepare children ages 2 – 4 for early success in school, address key developmental milestones, and be a feeder program for Greenwood School District 50’s 4K program.

“Community Initiatives plays an important role in our community,” said David Tompkins, Greenwood Market Executive for Countybank. “Through programs like the Toddler Learning Center, we enable parents and teachers to create learning experiences to increase literacy and positive social-emotional outcomes.”

Community Initiatives, Inc. provides a variety of programs and services to the Lakelands community, including the Safe Haven After School and Summer Program, La Clinica Gratis/The Free Clinic, a medical home for uninsured, drug-free events, and Thrive Hub, a benefit screening program.

“Countybank and Greenwood Capital have been supportive community partners in allowing Community Initiatives to enhance its educational services for the long-term benefit of our entire community,” said Teresa Goodman, Executive Director for Community Initiatives, Inc. “Their support has allowed us to prepare to expand our program reach to position both children and families for childcare and academic solutions that will lay the framework for generations of success.”

“Research shows that early intervention can help set children up for success,” said Walter Todd, President and CIO for Greenwood Capital. “We are honored to support local families through the work that Community Initiatives does in Greenwood.”
