Countybank Foundation presents $2,500 to Daily Bread Ministries

January 2, 2020

Kevin Duncan, Greer City Executive for Countybank, and Candice Good, Greer Market Administrator, recently presented a check for $2,500 to Daily Bread Ministries during the Merle State Hunger walk event. The donation was given on behalf of the Countybank Foundation, which was established in 1971 and represents Countybank and Greenwood Capital.

The Merle State Hunger Walk is an annual fundraiser for Daily Bread Ministries/Greer Soup Kitchen, designed to raise awareness about hunger in the Greer community. In addition to the donation from the Countybank Foundation, Countybank associates also volunteered to help organize and set up during the event.

“The Merle State Hunger Walk is a great, annual community event that builds awareness around an important issue that affects the Greer area,” said Good. “As we move into the holidays, and the weather grows colder, it’s important to keep those in need in mind and find ways to give back through volunteering and charitable donations.”

Daily Bread Ministries feeds the hungry by providing one hot nutritious meal a day to those in need to help end homelessness in the Greer community. The Greer Soup Kitchen, a part of Daily Bread Ministries, is a non-profit, charitable organization was founded in 1990 when concerned citizens observed that people in their own town were going hungry.

“Countybank is proud to support the important work that Daily Bread Ministries does for our community on a daily basis,” said Duncan. “Their program not only keeps those in need fed but help prevent homelessness through programs like Greer Shelter to Empower People (STEP), the Greer Family Shelter, which provides early intervention to enable families to move from being homeless to employed-with-home.”
