Court Walsh Joins Parker Poe Columbia Law Firm

courtWCOLUMBIA, SC – May 5, 2014 – Courtney E. Walsh has joined Parker Poe and will practice in the Commercial and Construction Litigation practice group in the firm’s Columbia office.

Walsh is a former officer and attorney in the U.S. Marines who was twice deployed to Iraq, where he helped re-establish Iraqi civilian courts. At Parker Poe, he will concentrate primarily on cases involving construction projects, surety and fidelity bonds, government contracts, and environmental permits and contaminated sites.

Prior to going into private practice, Walsh served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney prosecuting federal Worker’s Compensation fraud cases, and advised senior military leaders on employment law while representing the government in administrative appeals, arbitrations and mediations. He also worked in the Washington, D.C., office of the late U.S. Rep. Floyd Spence and served as chief environmental law advisor for a military training complex that comprised more than 1.1 million acres of federal land.

Walsh is a 2001 graduate of The Citadel who earned a JD degree from the University of Florida Law School in 2004 and his LLM from Harvard University in 2011. He is a member of the Order of the Coif and has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
