Celebrating Two Years of Dedication to Litter Prevention and Environmental Stewardship

In a resounding acknowledgment of her commitment to preserving South Carolina’s natural beauty, Courtney Stonell, the Laurens County Chamber’s Affiliate Coordinator at KLCB (Keep Laurens County Beautiful), was recently honored with the prestigious Keep South Carolina Beautiful Partnership Award.

The award was presented to her amidst a gathering of dedicated individuals at the 2023 Litter Summit, hosted by PalmettoPride in collaboration with the South Carolina Litter Control Association. This recognition serves as a testament to Stonell’s efforts in combating litter and enhancing the environmental quality of the state.

The annual Litter Summit, held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, brings together a diverse array of professionals, including representatives from Keep America Beautiful Affiliates, litter prevention experts, and law enforcement officers. The event serves as a platform for sharing program updates and offering professional development opportunities to attendees. Additionally, it provides a forum for acknowledging individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to litter prevention and environmental stewardship in South Carolina. The awards luncheon during the conference is an opportunity to celebrate these achievements.

Stonell’s journey in her role as Affiliate Coordinator at KLCB has been nothing short of remarkable. Recently marking two years in this pivotal position, Stonell’s tireless dedication has been instrumental in making a tangible impact on Laurens County. Over the past year alone, her efforts have resulted in the removal of over 20,000 pounds of litter from South Carolina’s roads and waterways. This accomplishment not only highlights her effectiveness but also underscores the critical importance of individuals like Stonell in preserving the state’s natural beauty.

“Courtney’s passion for cleaning up Laurens County has proven to be contagious and has inspired others to join the cause and become environmental stewards in their own right,” said Amanda Munyan, President, and CEO of the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce. “Her leadership and commitment to the principles of Keep South Carolina Beautiful have made a positive and lasting impression in Laurens County.”
