Cozy Coop and Bakery to Celebrate Grand Opening in Cross Hill

July 13, 2026

What began as a small roadside farm stand is stepping into a new chapter. Cozy Coop and Bakery, formerly Cici Farm Stand and Bakery, will host its grand opening Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, with the doors opening at 8 a.m. Saturday.

The weekend will feature giveaways and a raffle for a gift basket filled with the shop’s handmade goods, including goat milk soap, candles, jewelry and baked treats.

The Grubel family, which owns and operates the business, said the name change reflects how far the shop has come.

“We decided to change the name because we are not going to be a little farm stand anymore. We are going to be an actual store now, and wanted a name that was cute and more inviting,” a family member said.

The Grubels came to South Carolina from New York 30 years ago. After 25 years in Simpsonville, they moved to Cross Hill to escape the traffic and settle into small-town life. The store is a true family effort, with the couple’s daughter, mother-in-law, mother and sister all pitching in to help.

“We love the little hometown feel here and love the people of Cross Hill, and we wanted to open up a store that supplied homemade items to our customers that they really can’t get anywhere around here,” the family said.

The business started small, selling eggs, homemade jewelry, soaps, candles and baked goods. It did well enough that the family decided to expand into a larger, air-conditioned store. The new space means customers can find a wider variety of baked goods year-round, including items that were difficult to carry during the summer heat.

Shoppers can expect breads, cupcakes, Italian rainbow cookies, cake pops, mini cakes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, pound cakes, lemon pound cake, coffee cake and a range of cookies. Nearly everything in the store is made by hand.

“Almost all my products are handmade. All my jams, soaps, candles and lip balm we make by hand with lots of hard work and love, and I love every bit of it,” a family member said. “We think all-natural ingredients make a big difference.”

The shop will also debut its own homemade coffee creamer, which customers can sample and purchase.

Cozy Coop and Bakery is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the summer. The shop runs on a self-serve model, giving customers the freedom to browse and shop at their own pace without anyone hovering nearby. When shoppers are ready to check out, they can pay with cash in the store’s cash box or through Zelle.

The family has also set up a small outdoor seating area where customers can relax and enjoy their baked goods and coffee.

The family said the shop stands apart because there is nothing else quite like it in the area. More than anything, they are looking forward to welcoming back the customers who have supported the store over the past year and showing them the new space.

“We are so excited to show our customers our new and improved store with lots of new items for them to shop in a nice, air-conditioned store,” the family said.

They hope visitors feel welcome the moment they walk through the door and that the community continues to spread the word so the business can keep growing.

Cozy Coop and Bakery is located at 1111 S. Main St. in Cross Hill. The grand opening begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 18, and continues through Sunday, July 19.
