Creature Comforts Brewing Co. expands distribution to Columbia

September 6, 2022

This fall, award-winning Athens, GA-based brewery launches in Columbia, with two other Southern cities soon to follow

Creature Comforts Brewing Co., an Athens, Georgia-based B-Corp certified craft brewery, announced plans to expand distribution to Columbia, South Carolina in mid-September. Following expansion into Charleston and Hilton Head markets last year, and in Nashville earlier this summer, the addition of Columbia is the Athens brewery’s third expansion over state lines. The brewery will begin pouring four popular beers from Creature Comforts’ core year-round lineup on draft in select locations across Columbia, including Athena, a tart German-style wheat beer; Automatic, a bright and refreshing Pale Ale; Bibo, a crisp and dry Pilsner; and Tropicália, a balanced and juicy IPA.

In addition, the Athens brewery will expand distribution to Chattanooga, Tennessee and Greenville, South Carolina later this fall.

“With our college-town roots and last year’s expansion to the coast of South Carolina, Columbia was a natural next stop for us,” said Creature Comforts CEO Chris Herron, a former USC Gamecock and member of the varsity men’s soccer team. “We’re excited to bring Creature Comforts to the heart of the state and be part of the energy and growth of Columbia’s restaurant and creative communities.”

Creature Comforts has selected Beverage South as its distributor partner in Columbia. Established in 2002, Beverage South operates across markets in Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama. Sharing Creature Comforts’ commitment to quality and community impact, Beverage South made for a natural partner for the brand’s entrance into the Columbia market.

“We are extremely honored and proud to add the Creature Comforts brands to our portfolio” said Beverage South Vice President Brad Genners. “The opportunity to support their expansion is perfectly timed and we are confident that the success they have experienced the past 8 years will carry over to the expansion markets.

The market expansion comes just after Creature Comforts’ eighth anniversary, and ahead of its plans to open a second brewery and taproom in Los Angeles in the coming months. Columbia launch events are slated to take place the week of September 12, and details will be shared on Creature Comforts’ social media channels.
