Cromer named Touchdown Club player of the week after Clinton’s win over Laurens

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for games played on Friday, August 28th, the Player of the week is Clinton High School running back and defensive back Angelo Cromer.
Angelo is a senior running back and defensive cornerback for the Clinton High School Red Devils and lead the Devils on offense Friday night in their 29 – 22 win against Laurens District High School at Wilder Stadium in Clinton. The Red Devils scored with two seconds remaining in the game to capture the exciting win.
Angelo Cromer was the leading ball carrier for the game with 157 yards on 17 carries. Angelo also had 3 tackles and didn’t give up any explosive plays at corner.
Head Coach Corey Fountain stated, “Angelo was the ultimate teammate Friday by running the ball hard, blocking with everything he had, playing cornerback and most special teams. He played aggressively and left everything on the field Friday night.”
The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Cromer on September 3rd at the secondTouchdown Club meeting of the year. The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens with Dempsey’s Pizza of Clinton serving the meal and the food service line opening at 11:45 am. Player of the Week awards will presented in 2026 by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.
Speaking on Thursday, September 3rd will be new Presbyterian College Head Football Coach Matt Rahl as the Blue Hose prepare to travel to Macon, Georgia to take on the Mercer Bears Saturday, September 5th for a 6 pm kickoff.
The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. All meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am.
The featured speaker for the Touchdown Club meeting on Thursday, September 3rd will be Presbyterian College Head Football Coach Matt Rahl. Coach Rahl was appointed the 18th Head Football Coach in PC history. Rahl holds 24 years of experience as an assistant coach and has been an integral part of PC’s success over the past two years. He’s and individual who values character, accountability, and team culture as much as wins on the field.
Rhal captured his first career win with a 47 – 37 win over UVA Wise on August 27th.
