CSO promotes Mitsuko Flynn to Director of Education and Community Engagement

July 24, 2017

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra has promoted Mitsuko Flynn from her role as Development Coordinator to the position of Director of Education and Community Engagement. She has been a part of the CSO team since September of 2015 and has spent that time assisting in fundraising efforts, grant writing, event planning, and more.

In July 2016, Ms. Flynn worked with top industry leaders at the League of American Orchestra’s Essentials of Orchestra Management seminar, an immersive ten-day program for orchestra professionals. Prior to her employment with the CSO, she worked for the Paterson Music Project, an El Sistema-inspired music program in Paterson, NJ with a mission to provide music education for children from economically challenged families and underserved communities. She was also a faculty member at the John J. Cali School of Music Preparatory Division, where she taught cello and served as coordinator of the chamber music program.

Ms. Flynn is passionate about local community engagement and the current global movement of social change through music. Through the CSO’s many educational programs, she focuses on eliminating barriers and creating opportunities for students throughout the Lowcountry to have access to meaningful musical experiences.
