CU-ICAR One Research Drive ribbon cutting

October 26, 2016

LS3P congratulates the Clemson University Land Stewardship Foundation, who celebrated the opening of the new One Research Drive building with a ribbon cutting on October 25, 2016.  This four- story, 84,000 square foot facility is located on the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR) campus, and features research and development space, high-bay labs, and flexible office spaces designed to support innovators and entrepreneurs in the automotive industry.

One Research Drive, the sixth and final building in CU-ICAR’s Technology Neighborhood I, will benefit students, industry partners, and economic growth across the region. H. Philip Paradice, Jr., Regional Director of the Economic Development Association, noted in his remarks that CU-ICAR continues to strengthen the region’s automotive cluster.  “CU-ICAR offers an exciting example of what can be done through academic and industry partnerships,” he stated.

The new facility is targeting LEED Silver certification, with potential energy savings resulting from high efficiency systems and a high performance envelope.  LS3P also designed the original CU-ICAR masterplan in association with SmithGroup JJR and Andropogon Associates, the CU-ICAR Center for Emerging Technologies, and the LEED Gold CU-ICAR Innovation Place and AutoPark in association with SmithGroup JJR and Walter Parking Consultants.
