D’Alberto, Graham & Grimsley adds Stephen Atkinson

March 28, 2023

Attorney Stephen Atkinson has joined the D’Alberto, Graham & Grimsley law firm.

Atkinson specializes in representing small to mid-sized business owners who are either selling their business to an outsider or internally transitioning ownership to the next generation. He also is available to assist clients with a wide range of other corporate matters and transactions.

“South Carolina small business owners deserve the sophistication and intellect Stephen brings to our corporate practice,” said Dan D’Alberto, a partner with the West Columbia-based law firm. “We are very excited to have him increase our ability to serve those business owners who are seeking to sell or transition in the coming years.”

Prior to joining D’Alberto, Graham & Grimsley, Atkinson worked in the Charlotte office of the Wall Street firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where his practice focused on bank finance, primarily representing commercial banks in syndicated asset-based lending transactions with commodities traders.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to join D’Alberto, Graham & Grimsley. For me, it’s the right team, the right culture, and the right kind of legal work,” said Atkinson. “I’ve hit the ground running here already and am enjoying serving our business-owner clients with everything from forming LLCs to selling family businesses.”

Atkinson attended law school at the University of Alabama where he served as a senior editor of the Alabama Law Review and graduated magna cum laude as a member of the Order of the Coif.

Prior to attending law school, he worked for several years in his family’s business in his hometown of Pageland, South Carolina. He is a 2013 summa cum laude graduate of Columbia International University.
In his spare time, Atkinson enjoys spending time outdoors, especially learning the ins-and-outs of fly fishing.
