Dan Orvin Named to ABA’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section Council

CHARLESTON, SC – Womble Carlyle attorney Dan Orvin has been appointed to Section Council of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section (ABA RPTE) for the 2014-15 bar year.

The Section Council governs the ABA RPTE’s overall operations.  The ABA RPTE is a diverse community of nearly 24,000 attorneys, professionals, educators and students, and takes a leading role in providing education, information and training for real estate, trust and estate lawyers throughout the country. Womble Carlyle’s Dan Orvin is at the vanguard of attorneys helping the Section achieve its goals.

Orvin also was reappointed to serve in a number of additional leadership positions within the ABA RPTE for 2014-15. He will serve as the Vice-Chair of the Communications Committee, Vice-Chair of the Real Property Government Submissions Task Force and a Member of the Planning Committee.

Earlier this year, he chaired an ABA RPTE program in Chicago titled, “Have You ‘Flagged’ the Issues? The Ethical Duties of Counsel when Structuring and Developing a Branded Condominium Hotel.”

Dan Orvin’s practice includes commercial transactions, real estate development and real estate and business litigation. A significant portion of his practice is focused on title insurance claims litigation and lender liability litigation. Orvin also has an extensive amount of experience developing commercial and mixed-use properties (including “New Urbanist” projects), handling zoning matters and drafting and negotiating commercial leases. He represents clients in the development and establishment of condominium regimes, marina/dockominium projects and other common interest ownership developments. He practices in Womble Carlyle’s Charleston, S.C. office.
