DAV Charitable Service Trust awards a $30,000 grant to Senior Resources to help provide meals to homebound veterans
March 17, 2025Senior Resources has received a generous grant of $30,000 from DAV Charitable Service Trust to provide nutritional support through Meals on Wheels to veterans in Richland County. This funding will be used to deliver hot, daily meals to homebound veterans, ensuring they receive the nourishment they need to remain healthy and independent.
With a strong military presence in Columbia and Richland County, many retired and disabled veterans call this community home. Senior Resources is honored to continue serving those who have served our country by providing essential meal services through Meals on Wheels.
Senior Resources currently delivers hot and frozen meals to the doorsteps of over 800 elderly and disabled residents of Richland County, including 122 veterans.
Mr. W’s a veteran volunteer turned client, journey with Meals on Wheels is a testament to the spirit of service and community. For years, Mr. W was the first face employees and volunteers saw in the Meals on Wheels kitchen, serving as a greeter throughout meal service. His warm presence and welcoming spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. When Mr. W transitioned into a Meals on Wheels client, it was our honor to serve him, ensuring he received the same care and compassion he once gave to others.
As the only provider of Meals on Wheels in Richland County, Senior Resources remains committed to helping elderly neighbors and veterans maintain their independence and well- being. This generous grant from DAV Charitable Service Trust will allow us to continue supporting those who served our nation by ensuring they receive the daily nutrition and support they deserve.
