Detpak USA selects Spartanburg County for first U.S. manufacturing facility

Detpak USA, a global manufacturer of paper and board packaging products, has selected Spartanburg County for its first U.S. manufacturing operation, a multi-million-dollar investment expected to create more than 50 jobs during its initial phase.
The company will establish operations in an approximately 175,000-square-foot production facility at 2781 New Cut Road in Spartanburg. Production is expected to begin in August.
Detpak supplies packaging products to quick-service restaurants, food service providers, retailers and consumer goods companies. The new South Carolina facility will support the company’s expanding North American customer base and will utilize a combination of imported and locally sourced raw materials.
Founded in 1981, Detpak is a subsidiary of Australia’s Detmold Group, which manufactures premium packaging products sold in 45 countries. The company operates manufacturing facilities in eight countries and currently serves the U.S. market through sales offices in Los Angeles and Tampa, Florida.
Company officials said establishing a manufacturing presence in the United States marks an important milestone in Detpak’s global growth strategy.
“Opening our own manufacturing facility in the United States is a key milestone for our business,” said Detmold Group CEO Sascha Detmold Cox. “It allows us to better support our customers with locally manufactured products while reinforcing our long-term commitment to the U.S. market.”
The investment adds to Spartanburg County’s growing manufacturing sector, which continues to attract international companies seeking access to the Southeast’s workforce, transportation network and expanding customer base.
To support the project, the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded Spartanburg County a $100,000 Set-Aside grant to assist with building improvements at the facility.
