Devro expanding Calhoun County operations, creating 19 jobs

Devro, a producer of edible films and coatings, is expanding its operations in Calhoun County, creating 19 new jobs.
The company, which has operated for more than 85 years, manufactures collagen casings and gels for the meat industry. Devro operates four sales offices and seven manufacturing plants, including its production facility in Calhoun County.
The expansion at 785 Old Swamp Road in Swansea will increase production capacity through the addition of a new processing line and an expansion of the existing building. The additional space will support the preparation of raw materials used in the company’s manufacturing process.
Operations related to the expansion are expected to be online in 2028.
“Devro is excited to continue investing in Calhoun County and South Carolina,” said Steven Crapps, Devro’s procurement, supply and logistics manager. “This expansion reflects our confidence in the region’s workforce and business environment while creating new career opportunities.”
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded Calhoun County a $250,000 Set-Aside grant to assist with site preparation and building construction costs.
