Dick and Tunky Riley Education Award Winner announced Oct 16

GREENVILLE, SC – October 7, 2013 – The Riley Institute at Furman and South Carolina Future Minds will announce the winner of the 2013 Dick and Tunky Riley WhatWorksSCsm Award for Excellence Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 12:30 p.m. in the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

The award, which highlights innovative educational initiatives throughout the state, will be presented at a luncheon during South Carolina Future Minds’ annual Public Education Partners meeting.

The WhatWorksSC Award Luncheon is open to the public. The cost is $15, and online registration is available at this link.

The finalists are:

·         Chester Park Elementary School of Inquiry, Chester County Schools

·         Teacher Cadet Program, Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement (CERRA), serving students statewide

 

          Candidates were selected from more than 80 entries in the Riley Institute’s WhatWorksSCsm clearinghouse.  The WhatWorksSC clearinghouse showcases initiatives that explore and exemplify key strategies for improving South Carolina’s public schools.

          The award is presented in conjunction with the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and the South Carolina State Board of Education and is sponsored by the South Carolina School Board Association and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
