Director of Financial Aid at Piedmont Technical College Elected President of South Carolina Assocation of Student Financial Aid Administrators

March 29, 2021

Missy Perry, FAAC®, director of financial aid at Piedmont Technical College (PTC), has been elected president of the South Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SCASFAA). The organization made the announcement on Feb. 16.

Perry has been an active member of SCASFAA for 17 years, during which time she and has served on its board in several support roles. In 2008, she was named the first recipient of the SCASFAA Emerging Leader Award.

“Over the years, the networking and training offered by this organization has been so beneficial in my career that I would like to give back and ensure that it has the stability to continue molding future financial aid administrators,” she said.

The post involves a three-year commitment in which Perry will serve as president-elect for 2021-22, as president for 2022-23, and as past president for 2023-24. She also serves on the board of the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA), an additional opportunity to advocate for PTC students.

Perry believes that networking is an absolute necessity if one is to be the best-informed and effective representative of the constantly changing financial aid profession. Her primary goal as president is to make sure members have access to quality training and the latest information.

“We have complicated regulations and rules coming at us from the federal and state levels, as well as our internal policies and accreditation boards,” she said. “The only way to stay up-to-date is to discuss and compare processes with our colleagues. … Our jobs are stressful, and nobody on the outside fully understands what we do most of the time. It is important to develop those connections.”
