Disposable face masks are available at four Richland Library locations, starting 3/1

March 1, 2021

As an added measure of protection in the fight against COVID-19, Richland Library is announcing a partnership with Richland County Councilmembers Chakisse Newton, Cheryl English and Jesica Mackey to distribute more than 5,000 disposable face masks within their districts.

Starting Monday, March 1, customers can receive masks while utilizing library services at the following locations:

  • Eastover (608 Main St., Eastover)
  • Lower Richland (9019 Garners Ferry Rd., Hopkins)
  • Sandhills (763 Fashion Dr., Columbia)
  • Southeast (7421 Garners Ferry Rd., Columbia)

They’re available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

“Richland Library is committed to keeping people informed and providing access to critical resources amid the pandemic,” says Executive Director Melanie Huggins. “Wearing masks is as important now as ever to the safety and health of our communities. We are proud to partner with elected officials and neighboring organizations to remind residents that we care and we are supportive during this difficult time.”

The partnership is part of a larger effort to help residents follow Richland County’s mask ordinance, which requires most people older than 10 to wear face coverings in public. To learn more, visit: http://www.richlandcountysc.gov/facemasks.
