District Five announces new leadership assignments

IRMO, SC – While students are off for the summer, District Five is working hard to be prepared for the coming school year. Some leaders in the district are being moved to new positions and a veteran school leader is being added to the District Five team. Those leaders are: Mr. Brandon Doty, Mr. Randy Norman, Ms. Markeita Warren and Mr. Brian Scott.
Doty was selected as the new Assistant Principal at Spring Hill High School after serving as Administrative Assistant Principal at Dutch Fork High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Cardiopulmonary Science from the University of Central Florida before earning a Master of Education in Educational Administration from USC. Doty was asked about his new position and said, “I am very excited and honored to be rejoining the Spring Hill High School family! I am looking forward to helping an already fantastic school reach for even greater heights and can’t wait to get started!”
Norman has accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Nursery Road Elementary School after serving as Administrative Assistant Principal there. Norman received his Bachelor of Arts from Otterbein University. He later earned a Masters of Educational Leadership and Administration at USC. Norman discussed moving into his new position saying, “It is with great pleasure that I will begin serving as the new Assistant Principal at Nursery Road Elementary School for the 2016-17 school year. My 24 years of dedication to Nursery Road Elementary School will allow me to continue to nurture relationships and establish success with our students, staff and families at Nursery Road Elementary School. I look forward to an exciting year.”
Warren heads to District Five to become Assistant Principal at Seven Oaks Elementary School. She served as Administrative Assistant Principal at Blaney Elementary in the Kershaw County School District. Warren received a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education at College of Charleston, a Masters in Instructional Accommodations from Francis Marion University and is currently working on a Masters in Administration and Supervision at Southern Wesleyan University. Warren said of her new position, “It is an honor to be a part of the Lexington-Richland Five School District and work with Mrs. Harriet Wilson and the Seven Oaks Elementary School family. I am excited to embark on this new journey and look forward to serving in this great district.”
Scott takes over as Administrative Assistant Principal at Irmo Elementary School after serving as a teacher at Nursery Road Elementary School. He earned a Bachelor in Finance from USC and went back to earn a Masters in Elementary Education. When asked about his new role, Scott said, “I am quite excited to become a member of the Irmo Elementary Leadership Team. I look forward to working with the staff, students and family members of this wonderful school.”
District Superintendent, Dr. Stephen Hefner said, “It is great to get our leadership team set for the upcoming school-year. These four individuals have demonstrated they are ready for the challenges of increased responsibility. I am confident they will excel in their new positions.”
