District Five to hold teacher recruitment event

January 28, 2016

Lexington-Richland School District Five will hold its 2016 Teacher Recruitment Event on Feb. 6 to give jobseekers an opportunity to learn more about schools and services in the district and talk one-on-one with administrators.

More than 200 people have pre-registered for the event, which will be held at Irmo Middle School from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Nearly 300 jobseekers attended last year’s District Five Teacher Recruitment Event.

“District Five is committed to providing a world-class education for students, and it all begins with having the best teachers in our classrooms,” said District Five Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Allison Jacques. “The Teacher Recruitment Event offers a golden opportunity for prospective employees to meet personally with school and district leaders, and it allows us to meet and interview a diverse range of high quality candidates.”

Jacques said vacancies for the upcoming school year will vary. Jobseekers attending the district’s Teacher Recruitment Event are asked to bring several copies of their resume. Pre-registration for the event is available through Feb. 3 by completing the form on the district’s website (www.lexrich5.org).

District Five Coordinator of Certified Personnel Winnie Brown said, “It is a fun event, but we are serious about getting the best teachers to teach the students in District Five. Jobseekers will be provided with an opportunity to speak to principals, staff in human resources and teachers who attend the event. It also gives school staff an opportunity to see and meet the best candidates out there. It’s an event we look forward to each year.”
