District Governor Visits Rotary Club of Lake Murray – Irmo

COLUMBIA, SC – July 17, 2013 – The guest speaker at the July 17, 2013 meeting of the Rotary Club of Lake Murray-Irmo meeting was Lou Mello, the 2013-2014 District Governor for Rotary District 7770.  He said that Rotarians are unique because they act differently because they live the Four-Way Test.  They think differently because of the unique professional prospective they bring to each project and event.  They have passion and perseverance to get things done.  And they provide service on a global scale.  He talked about the priorities of Rotary and made suggestions as to how Rotarians could Engage Rotary and Change Lives. 

 

Lou is a graduate of the Ohio State University and taught high school and coached high school football and basketball prior to entering the Ocean Transportation industry.   

 

Lou and his wife Teresa have lived in Mt Pleasant since 1999 and he joined Rotary in August 1999. They enjoy sports, boating and travel.   

 

Lou is a Past President of the Mount Pleasant Rotary Club, Club Foundation Chair since 2001, Past Assistant Governor &Foundation Advocate for the Area 8 Clubs, and Past District 7770 Paul Harris Society Chair. Lou is District Governor for 2013-2014.   Lou also serves as the Coordinator for the 14 other Districts in Zone 33 for the Paul Harris Society.

 

Lou is a Foundation Sustaining member, a Benefactor, a Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Bequest Society, a Paul Harris Society Charter member, a Major Donor and a Ten Star Rotarian.   Lou has also received the Rotary Foundation Trustee’s Citation for Meritorious Service in 2007-2008. He was also recognized as the 2010-2011 District 7770 Rotarian of the Year. Lou has attended six RI Conventions.
