District High School partners with Rotary Club of Forest Acres to fight hunger

Richland School District Two announces that the Richland Northeast High School Interact Club is teaming up with its Rotary International sponsor club, the Rotary Club of Forest Acres, for a large scale community service project event in partnership with Rise Against Hunger.

The students alongside the Rotary Club members will assemble over 13,000 meal packages for distribution to those in need. The student Interact Club is led by teacher Stephanie Stone, who facilitates community action projects and other events for student learning and leadership. Interact Clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self, the Rotary International motto.

The event will take place on Saturday, December 14, from 10a.m. to noon at Richland Northeast High School cafeteria located at7500 Brookfield Road in Columbia. Setup begins at 9 a.m.

Student Interact clubs are a subsidiary of Rotary International, and are sponsored by local Rotary Clubs. Interact Club members connect with leaders in the community and around the world to:

  • Take action to make a difference in the school and community
  • Discover new cultures and promote international understanding
  • Become leaders in school and in the community
  • Have fun and make new friends from around the world

The Richland Northeast High School Interact Club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Forest Acres. The current club president is Ernest McCutcheon

Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable, mobilizing the necessary resources to end hunger by 2030.
