Kelly Mill Med Pro Middle School will have a new principal beginning the 2022-2023 school year. Jamilia L. Kenely will become principal of Kelly Mill effective July 1, 2022. Kenely replaces Dr. Richard Griffin who has accepted a principalship at a high school in North Carolina.

“Ms. Kenely has dutifully served Kelly Mill as an assistant principal for 17 years, earning the trust of the school community,” said Richland Two Superintendent Dr. Baron R. Davis. “She has knowledge of Kelly Mill’s history and culture and has the leadership capacity to lead its premier future. She has been actively honing her skills by being an outstanding assistant principal and by taking advantage of numerous professional development opportunities that have prepared her for this moment,” said Dr. Davis.

Nearly 30 years ago, Kenely began teaching math at Hand Middle School in Richland School District One. She taught there for 11 years before accepting an assistant administrator position at Kelly Mill in 2004. One year later, she was promoted to assistant principal.

“I am honored to be selected to serve and lead Kelly Mill. Since we opened in 2004, I have been dedicated to supporting our families, and am committed to using AVID and STEAMM to create multiple opportunities for all students to find their passions and experience success in academics and character development,’’ said Kenely.

Kenely earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, Master of Education degree in educational administration and an Educational Specialist degree in educational administration from the University of South Carolina.

Kelly Mill is located at 1141 Kelly Mill Road in Blythewood. It offers a schoolwide STEAMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Medical) theme and INC., a school-within-a-school economics themed magnet. Kelly Mill is also an AVID schoolwide and an AVID National Demonstration Site.
