District promotes Huggins to assistant principal

LEXINGTON, SC – During a special called board meeting held May 30, 2017, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the promotion of Meg H. Huggins to the position of assistant principal at River Bluff High School.
Huggins teaches Advanced Placement Human Geography and Law and Global Policy Development, with the added responsibilities of serving as lead teacher for the Center for Law and Global Policy Development located at RBHS.
With 13 years of educational experience, she began her career as a social studies teacher at White Knoll High School in 2004. In 2007, she moved to Lexington High School and, in 2013, she moved to RBHS.
Selected to participate in the Supreme Court Summer Institute for Teachers in 2014 and chosen as the 2016–2017 Lexington District One Teacher of the Year, Huggins has a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Master of Arts in Teaching in secondary education social studies and a Master of Education in educational leadership from the University of South Carolina. She is certified in secondary social studies, AP human geography, AP American government and as a secondary principal.
A member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Council for the Social Studies, South Carolina Council for the Social Studies and South Carolina Geographic Alliance, Huggins is a South Carolina Teaching Fellows presenter and was recently accepted in the South Carolina ASCD Emerging Leaders Class of 2017.
