Augusta Road Marks 44th Doctors Care Location

COLUMBIA, SC – July 30, 2009 – People living in West Columbia are able to get the care they need, when they need it now that Doctors Care is opening new center at 2836 Augusta Road.

The center will open August 3rd ready to serve the community in a variety of ways, from routine care to minor emergencies. Walk-ins are always welcome.

Dr. Mark Tyler will head the staff. Dr. Tyler, who is trained in family medicine, has extensive experience in urgent care and primary care.  Tyler also has training in advanced trauma life support and advanced cardiac life support.  He served as chief of the urgent care clinic at Fort Jackson’s Moncrief Army Community Hospital and was deployed with the 86th Combat Support Hospital in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The new Augusta Road location will have the extended weeknight and weekend hours found in all Doctors Care centers. “We want to ensure that care is available when it’s convenient, whether you need a sports physical in the evening or if you have a minor emergency on the weekend. We work around your schedule,” Doctors Care Regional Medical Director Tommy Gibbons said.

In addition to helping patients through unexpected pains and strains, the center offers an array of family medicine and preventative care, from checkups and sports physicals to immunizations and cholesterol screenings. A trauma room, X-ray suite and a laboratory all are on site.
