$420,000 in flood recovery grants awarded by One SC Fund

10 nonprofit flood relief and recovery programs are funded through Phase III grants
The One SC Fund Grants Committee announced the nonprofit recipients of the Phase III grant awards for flood recovery projects across South Carolina.
Phase III grantees will receive $420,000 to support their projects. The grantees will provide volunteer labor and an additional $4.5 million in financial support for projects ranging from mold remediation to complete home rebuilds.
The following 10 nonprofit organizations will receive Phase III grants from the One SC Fund:
- All Hands Volunteers: Mold Remediation in Georgetown
- Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Charleston, Inc.: Mold Remediation in Florence, Williamsburg, and Georgetown
- Mennonite Disaster Service: General Rebuild Support and Materials in Andrews, Sumter and Clarendon
- South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church: General Rebuild and Repair in Georgetown, Williamsburg, Florence, and Sumter Counties
- South Carolina Baptist Convention: General Rebuild and Repair in Georgetown, Johnsonville, Hemingway, Williamsburg and Florence
- Habitat for Humanity: General Rebuild and Repair in Georgetown
- Ridgeville Community Resource Center: General Rebuild and Repair in Charleston, Dorchester, Berkeley, Orangeburg and Colleton Counties
- Black River United Way: General Rebuild and Repair Georgetown and Williamsburg
- Palmetto Project, Inc.: House in a Box Clarendon County and Richland County
- National Council of the United States, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Inc.: House in a Box
To date, the One SC Fund, a fundraising effort established by Governor Nikki Haley to help South Carolinians who are recovering from October’s unprecedented flooding continue the rebuilding process, has awarded $1.68 million to nonprofit organizations working in our state.
“We have neighbors and families who are still in need as we continue to rebuild a stronger South Carolina, and we are grateful for the continued generosity and kindness of so many across the state and country,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.
There is still much work needed in order to rebuild our state, work that will require funding. One exciting way to give to the One SC Fund is through one of two 24-hour online giving days, Midlands Gives and Lowcountry Unite, being held on May 3rd. Each of these events will bring their regions together as one community, raising money and awareness for hundreds of local nonprofits. Donations to the fund through these giving days will support flood recovery in their respective areas.
Two generous donors are supporting the One SC Fund through Midlands Gives. The Cheerful Giver will donate $1 to the One SC Fund for every donation made to any of the 375+ nonprofits participating in Midlands Gives. And, the Lipscomb Family Foundation will match all donations, up to $10,000, made to the One SC Fund through Midlands Gives.
