May 27, 2025

More than 100 South Carolina-based nonprofits will receive grants from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation to support human needs, environmental stewardship, education, and community vitality.

The company this week announced the first round of its shareholder-funded grants for 2025. This year, the foundation awarded approximately $10 million to more than 350 nonprofits in six states across the Dominion Energy footprint.

“Dominion Energy South Carolina is proud to be an integral part of the communities we are privileged to serve, and these local nonprofits provide critical programs where we live and work,” said Keller Kissam, President of Dominion Energy South Carolina.

The funding supports a variety of programs and services, including access to healthy meals for seniors, environmental projects, mental health services at community clinics and children’s education programs, among other causes. They include:

  • Cola Town Bike Collective – Columbia, SC –  The grant will fund the Reliable Transportation Initiative, which gives bikes to individuals who lack reliable transportation to get back and forth from their jobs, grocery store, health services, or other vital needs. These donated bikes are serviced and provided to their new owner at no cost.
  • Hopeful Horizons – Beaufort, SC – The grant will fund Hopeful Horizons’ mission of providing safety, hope, and healing to survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault and to lead in ending abuse through primary prevention and education. Hopeful Horizons is the only children’s advocacy, domestic violence, and sexual assault victim services organization that serves Beaufort, Allendale, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper counties.
  • Sea Island Habitat for Humanity – Johns Island, SC – The grant will fund a project to build two affordable homes in the town of Ravenel. Construction will be done with volunteer labor, and work will begin in the next month. Funds will be used to help pay for construction materials, such as siding, framing lumber, and roofing materials.

The grants are available to organizations in areas where Dominion Energy provides electricity or natural gas or has significant business interests. These include Virginia, South Carolina, northeastern North Carolina, and parts of West Virginia, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
