Dominion Energy offers energy assistance as summer temperatures linger
August 1, 2024Dominion Energy is encouraging customers who may be struggling financially to reach out for energy assistance this summer.
August is Low-Income Home Energy Assistance ProgramĀ (LIHEAP) Action Month. A federally funded program, LIHEAP provides qualifying customers with bill payment and energy assistance options. In 2023, more than 71,000 Dominion Energy customers received approximately $23 million in energy assistance through LIHEAP and other agency utility bill assistance programs.
āWe understand high temperatures paired with humidity can cause our customers toĀ set their thermostatsĀ lower, causing their air conditioning units toĀ work harder, which can have a significant impact on their monthly energy bills,ā said Sam Dozier, general manager of customer service at Dominion Energy South Carolina. āWeāre reminding ourĀ customers that assistance funding is availableĀ through LIHEAP and other programs.ā
Customers can review a variety of payment plans and assistance options by accessing their account online or through the Dominion EnergyĀ mobile app. To apply, Dominion Energy electric and natural gas customers must contact their local community action agency. Go toĀ DominionEnergySC.com/
During the month of August Dominion Energyās customer assistance team will attend various community and back-to-school events across the state to help qualifying customers learn more about programs.
