Dominion Energy reminds customers of available Energy Assistance
March 6, 2025LIHEAP Awareness Day is March 5th
Dominion Energy representatives attended an event this week on Capitol Hill to raise awareness about the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which helps eligible customers with their energy costs through federal funding.
Hosted by the National Energy & Utility Affordability Coalition, LIHEAP Action Day allows utilities and human service organizations to mobilize support for LIHEAP by visiting with elected officials who represent their communities.
“We understand that the cost of utility bills can be a significant burden for vulnerable households, and we want our customers to know that we are here to help,” said Kaytee Watson, manager of customer assistance at Dominion Energy South Carolina. “Last year, thousands of Dominion Energy South Carolina customers received LIHEAP assistance. We encourage anyone facing hardships to reach out to us so we can connect them with programs like LIHEAP and other resources. Together, we can ensure that everyone has access to the support they need to keep their homes warm and safe.”
To learn more about LIHEAP or to apply, customers should contact their local community action agency. A comprehensive list of agencies and information about other available assistance programs can be found at DominionEnergySC.com/assistance.
EnergyShare: EnergyShare is funded with company contributions, along with donations from customers, employees and retirees. The South Carolina Department of Administration’s Office of Economic Opportunity administers the program through community action agencies.
Payment plans: If a customer is having trouble paying their bill, Dominion Energy will help them determine the best option for their unique situation. Both short-term payment extensions and long-term payment plans are available.
In 2024, more than 66,000 Dominion Energy customers received approximately $18.3 million in energy assistance through LIHEAP, EnergyShare and other agency utility bill assistance programs.
