Dr. Harris Pastides, President of the University of South Carolina, Named To NBSC Board

COLUMBIA, SC – October 23, 2008 – Dr. Harris Pastides, President of the University Of South Carolina, has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors for The National Bank of South Carolina.

“We are pleased that Dr. Pastides has joined our board.  He shares the same commitment to South Carolina business and communities as NBSC.  He is a proven leader in our state and will be a valuable member and contributor to our Board,” said Chuck Garnett, NBSC President and CEO.

Dr. Pastides served as the Vice President for Research and Health Sciences at the University of South Carolina from 2003-2008 and as Dean of the University’s Arnold School of Public Health from 1998-2003.  Before joining the USC faculty, he served as a Professor of Epidemiology and Chairman of the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.  Pastides received his Masters of Public Health and his PhD in Epidemiology from Yale University.
