Dr. Ronnie L. Booth to be recognized nationally with ACCT Southern Regional Chief Executive Officer award

PENDLETON, SC – Tri-County Technical College President Ronnie L. Booth will be recognized nationally next month for his commitment to advancing the community college movement.
In August, Dr. Booth, who has served as president of Tri-County for 12 years, was notified by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) that he has been chosen as the recipient of the ACCT 2015 Southern Regional Chief Executive Officer award. The award will be presented to him at the Regional Awards Luncheon during the 46th Annual ACCT Leadership Congress October 14 – 17.
Among the achievements cited in his nomination are College programs and services such as Bridge to Clemson, Connect to College, career pathways and stackable credentials, and the community campuses. In addition, the College’s student success rate is the highest among the 16 technical colleges in the State and it ranks 95th nationally for successful student transfers to four -year colleges and universities.
“This award is not just in recognition of Dr. Booth, but also the hard work all of you have done,” Commission Chairman Butch Harris said in his announcement to the faculty and staff at the fall convocation.
Dr. Booth echoed those sentiments and said, “This is a recognition of the work you do. Our students deserve the best, and you prove they are getting it.”
Dr. Booth is one of five community college presidents representing five geographic regions in the U.S. The national winner will be named at the ACCT Leadership Congress in October.
He holds a B.S. in Business Administration, an M.Ed. in Student Personnel Services and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership and Policies from the University of South Carolina and an M. A. in Theological Studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He was awarded an honorary doctorate of Humanities from Clemson University in 2012.
He is active in a number of professional associations, civic groups, and state and national boards, including the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the American Association of Community Colleges; Board of Trustees for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; Executive Committee of the Upstate SC Alliance; Chair of the AACC Finance Committee; Chair of the Board of Leadership South Carolina; and Past Chair of the Board of Directors for the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce. He also is a member of the Board of Directors for Anderson County Economic Development, Alliance Pickens, WorkLink, Oconee Economic Alliance; SENIOR Solutions; Community Colleges of Appalachia; Partnership for Academic and Career Education; and Tamassee DAR School.
