February 8, 2016

Coach David Kleinfelder, Dreher High School’s varsity girls’ soccer coach, has been named the 2015 Soccer Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Coaches Association (NFHS).

As head coach of the Dreher girls’ soccer team, Coach Kleinfelder led the Lady Blue Devils to a 2015 Class 3A state championship title and 13 region titles. Coach Kleinfelder also was Dreher’s 2014-2015 Classified Employee of the Year, the South Carolina High School League’s 2015 Coach of the Year and Richland One’s 2015 Coach of the Year.

“When you go into the field of coaching, it is to help students grow as players and people, so this award is really more about them,” said Coach Kleinfelder, who has been coaching soccer for 38 years and has won over 450 games.

“I am very humbled by this honor. [This award] shows how special Dreher is and how talented our group of young student athletes are. I just feel so fortunate to get to work with them, and be a small part of their lives. They are the reason for this accomplishment.”
