Duke Energy Declares Quarterly Dividend

CHARLOTTE, NC – January 6, 2010 – Duke Energy has declared a quarterly cash dividend on its common stock of $0.24 per share. The dividend is payable on March 16, 2010, to shareholders of record at the close of business Feb. 12, 2010.

This is the 84th consecutive year that Duke Energy has paid a quarterly cash dividend on its common stock.
